Heavy Rainfall Alert Issued Across Multiple States in India

India:
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple weather alerts for various parts of the country, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days due to active monsoon conditions.

In Delhi-NCR, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is expected by evening. The IMD has placed the region under a Yellow Alert, advising people to remain cautious during outdoor activities.

In Maharashtra, especially the Konkan, Mumbai, and Pune regions, continuous heavy downpours have been reported. Orange Alerts are in place for districts like Ratnagiri and Raigad, while Mumbai faces the possibility of waterlogging and traffic disruption due to high rainfall and tidal waves.

Southern states are also witnessing intense rainfall. In Kerala, the IMD has declared Red Alerts in districts such as Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Kannur. Continuous rainfall has led to the risk of flooding and landslides in hilly areas.

In Rajasthan, rain has brought relief from heat as temperatures dip below 40°C. However, the state has also reported incidents of flooding, and 26 districts are currently under weather watch.

Uttar Pradesh and Telangana are also experiencing spells of rain with warnings for thunderstorms and lightning in several districts. The weather department suggests that the downpour may intensify between June 19 and 21.

Authorities in affected regions are urging residents to:

Avoid travel during heavy rains.

Stay away from rivers and coastal areas during high tide.

Monitor local updates and follow emergency advisories.

The monsoon season, while essential for agriculture, continues to pose challenges in urban areas due to poor drainage and vulnerable infrastructure. Civic bodies and disaster response teams are on alert to handle emergencies.
